PHRU Partners
Who are our partners?
The unit has many partners around the world. The directors and the unit have worked closely with the World Health Organisation, UNAIDS and UNICEF.The PHRU has a site partnership with the Rural Aids and Development Action Research Programme (RADAR) in Limpopo Province.
It is also one of the 11 international sites of the HIV Network for Prevention Trials (HIVNET) and is an international site for the Paediatric Aids Clinical Trial Group.
Because the unit is at the forefront of HIV vaccine research - a priority of the government - it works with the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) and the South African AIDS Vaccine Initiative (SAAVI). The unit also has links with universities.
Developed by the HIV/AIDS and the Media Project, the website draws from thousands of pages of academic and medical research, government reports and world-class journalism to provide a concise, regionally relevant look at HIV/AIDS.
An HIV and TB research programme has been established with Johns Hopkins University; South African institutions are involved in the PHRU's research and training too.
Other than these, the PHRU also has international links with:
- the National Institutes of Health
- the Adult Aids Clinical Trials Group
- the HIV Vaccine Trials Network
